SOMETHING TO PONDER FASTING AND PRAYER: YOUR SPIRITUAL BREAKTHROUGH Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions. (Ezra 8:21) NKJV. As the exiled Jews prepared to return to Jerusalem, Ezra called a nationwide fast. The purpose of the fast was threefold: 1. They petitioned God to lead them in the right way. - This was the guidance of their fast. 2. They petitioned God to protect their little ones. - This was the assistance focus of their fast. 3. They petitioned God to guard their possessions. - This was the substance focus of their fast. Fasting is repeatedly referred to throughout Scripture as a sacrificial form of prayer warfare that produces results available no other way. Fasting involves a sacrificial denial of necessary nourishment while turning ones attention to seeking God during that denial. The duration of a fast may be as long as forty days or as brief as a portion of a single day or perhaps half a day. Perhaps you are facing a situation that just wont go away, and you feel like the stress is going to break you. How about believing God. Call a fast, seek His face in prayer and watch Him work on your behalf. Good morning and God bless folks. Have a great day. Jesus loves you. Pastor Bernard Coopan
