SOMETHING TO PONDER GIVE JOYFULLY So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity (compulsion); for God loves a cheerful giver. (2Corinthians 9:7) NKJV The word cheerful in Greek, is hilaros (hil-ar-oss) means : willing, good natured, joyfully ready. The word describes a spirit of enjoyment in giving that sweeps away all restraints. The english word hilarious is a transliteration. Whether you give to the work of God, or to someone in need do it from a pure conscience and heart. If your conscience condemns you, dont give. When it comes to giving, some people do it grudgingly because they feel compelled to do so. And some people, on the other hand will give, seeking what they might get in return. Nobody asks you to give away your whole house. Theres an old saying, When theres a need sow a seed. That seed can be some of your finances, food, clothing, time and even prayer. But let your giving be done from a joyful heart, because you love to give. And giving with a right attitude unlocks many blessings. It becomes a curse to give anything grudgingly. Many people say, The more you give the more you get. That may be true to a certain extent. I say, The more you give the more you live.
