SONA. The following mantras are culled from the newspapers which I just now scanned which I took home from Etihad. Sorry I havent written on the SONA yet although P-noy was right that the Filipinos are worth living for. Ive been sleeping you know to refresh our tired bones and for the body to heal from overseas work. So I just woke up. You know I have this old habit of collecting newspapers up for grabs at airplanes magazine racks every time Im on a plane homeward or going back in the middle east which, like the great USA, is the 2nd home for the poor Filipinos of course. Comes now the nitty-gritty. German Philosopher Emmanuel Kant said practice makes perfect. Scottish Economist Adam Smith said hard work trumps talent. Swedish Psychologist Dr. K. Anders Ericsson said 10, 000 hours of practice will make you one of historys greatest achievers! Michael Jordan perfected the game of basketball thus earning the sobriquet the geatest ever to have graced the hard court reducing King James and his court looks inferior. Isaiah Thomas upon winning his 2nd championship in the NBA via back-to-back trouncing Magic Johnson and the showtime Lakers said what we lacked in talent we made up for in sheer will and determination. The legendary Larry Bird of the Boston Garden-basketballs holiest cathedral- who won his MVP three in a row (the first ever since Wilt Chamberlain) was notoriously famous for being the first guy to practice and last guy to go. Sure those mantras for success stated at the beginning have been proven true and correct time and time and time again. They are veritable prescriptions for greatness not limited to Sports only but applicable all human endeavors including the melodramatic speech given by our President his 5th Speech of the Nation Address to date which is actually our local version of the State of the Union Address in the US. Mind you the speech was delivered in the nations national language thus extended the magnitude of its reach and its writ run far and wide social spectrum from the man on the street to the countrys cream of the crop. Its a speech that memorialized his hero father Ninoy whose martyrdom expressed in the Filipino is worth dying for speech will forever be etched in the sharp memory of this grateful nation.
