SONG OF THE DAY!!! (JULY-21) Are there not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father…So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” (Matthew 10:29-31) ### HIS EYES IS ON THE SPARROW ### By: Civilla D. Martin, 1905. Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come, Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home, When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He: His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me. Refrain I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free, For His eye is on the sparrow, And I know He watches me. “Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear, And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears; Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me. Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise, When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies, I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me. Amen!!! HYMNAL CHALLENGE!!!! Early in the spring of 1905, Civilla & her husband were sojourning in Elmira, New York. They contracted a deep friendship for a couple by the name of Mr. and Mrs. Doolittle who were true saints of God. Mrs. Doolittle had been bedridden for nigh twenty years. Her husband was an in-curable cripple who had to propel himself to and from his business in a wheel chair. Despite their afflictions, they lived happy Christian lives, bringing inspiration and comfort to all who knew them. One day while they were visiting with the Doolittles, my husband commented on their bright hopefulness and asked them for the secret of it. Mrs. Doolittle’s reply was simple: “His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.” The beauty of this simple expression of bound-less faith gripped the hearts and fired the imagination of Dr. Martin and me. The hymn “His Eye Is on the Sparrow” was the outcome of that experience. The first verse of this classic song, His Eye Is on The Sparrow, describes both the problem of and the greatest answer to the Human Condition throughout the entirety of the history of Mankind. Discouraged? Living in the Shadows of life? Feeling Lonely? Longing for a Better Quality of Life? If you are any of these, then you are in good company. It is the rare human, who would be considered sane, without experiencing all (or at the very least some) of these at the some point in his or her lifetime. LIVELY LESSONS FROM THE LETTERED LYRICS; **The Almighty sees, knows, and allows every needed aspect of my life for my ultimate good, and for the extremity of HIS Glory. ** The SOVEREIGNTY of GOD is demonstrated in the presence of evil in the world, over which HE has ultimate VICTORY, over which HE has complete control (as seen in the fact that evil cannot step beyond the boundary set for its activities, just as oceans have boundaries) and through which HE is reproving Mankind, since SIN does not pay. ** His Eye IS on the sparrow, (as well as on every precious human being in all of Humanity,) showing that small birds can build nests in the cracks of a cliff, receiving protection from predators and the elements. Humans, too, are helped every day to overcome incredible odds by going through those difficulties, not by being removed from those difficulties. ** Also, Let’s understand the inability of man to have headway in all endeavours without the Lord’s support, no wonder, The Eye of The LORD is on the great self-sufficient humans of Earth, who believe that they do not need The LORDs Care. (Remember, the H.M.S. Titanic sank on its maiden voyage by water entering its hull through an infinitesimal crack, considering its overall size. Not even GOD could sink this ship! Oh? Really?) Jesus is my portion. A constant Friend is He: His eye is on the sparrow, And I know He watches me... For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world; So let us do our best to enter that rest. (Hebrews 4:10-11a) CHALLENGE: You can go out and face the world, but don’t ever take your eyes off Him(JESUS)…
