SOS from Ranier Naldoza Dear Brothers and Sisters in the HIV - TopicsExpress

SOS from Ranier Naldoza Dear Brothers and Sisters in the HIV community, Belated world AIDS day celebration, and a happy human rights day to all! Last Dec 10, we celebrate the upholding of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and I am coming to share my unhappy working experience in the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP). I am based in the National Office and having the position as AIDS Program Staff. For almost 2 years, I felt safe to work as a young person living with HIV. FPOP promised me to have a meaningful involvement, which I really felt from my colleagues. Starting August 2014, me together with my co-workers in the National Office, experience embarrassment and humiliation with other partners and co-workers from our probationary Executive Director, Dr. Jonathan “Jondi” Flavier. I filed an incident report, including my resignation in our HR unit that contains my personal experience about the embarrassment of my colleague and to extent, humiliation to me in emails with other partners in the loop. Because of unbearable and inhumane condition, made my decision of filing a complaint in NLRC –DOLE. I felt abused that even I’m out of FPOP, I will not recover rapidly from a traumatic experience. I felt violated because of emotional and verbal abuse encountered from my employer. I just want to get back my lost dignity and self-worth. I am calling a unified statement from my PLHIV community and the rest of the advocates and activists in promoting HIV – related human rights, to stand before me in my fight against my abusive employer. I’ll be glad to have a position paper from your group/organization/network that support my battle for zero discrimination at the workplace. Please coordinate with me first about my concern. I attached the official letter from my colleagues in FPOP National Office that describes what was happened to us, and details of my incident and their support for claiming my rights. And to quote, Just last Friday, December 5, one of our colleagues, Ranier Naldoza, our AIDS Program Staff, for having been repeatedly embarrassed by the ED on emails and with partners, filed a formal complaint at the NLRC-DOLE for violation of his rights as a Young Person Living with HIV (PLHIV) under the FPOP HIV Workplace Policy. The humiliations have caused him extreme pain, anxiety and agony that now imperils his health condition. The FPOP HIV Workplace Policy wishes to provide a caring and supportive work environment for staff infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. FPOP seeks to eliminate stigma and discrimination in the workplace on the basis of real or perceived HIV status, or vulnerability to HIV infection. Under the current ED, this policy is being violated.” The full details is on the official letter of FPOP NO staff. I wish to unite my dearest community in eliminating all forms of discrimination and human rights violation regardless of your HIV status. My fight is also your fight! Isang Mapagpalayang Pasko sa ating lahat! Ranier “Rain” Naldoza/Carla de Guzman
