SOUTH BEND OUTAGE UPDATE Work continues to progress as anticipated and power is still expected to be fully restored by noon, Sunday, May 18. I&M crews worked safely through the night pulling in all of the new underground wire. Work will continue around the clock today with the majority of the effort involving linking 48 ends of wire together. As we transition back to normal service, we encourage customers that are running on a properly installed generator to please remain on the generator. I&M has made contact with a number of customers on generators and will continue to canvas the area to ensure those customers running a generator make a smooth transition back onto the grid. For those customers who are not using a generator, we ask that you shut off all non-essential items. Taking this precaution will prevent damage to customer equipment and minimize the stress on the network. We are focused on getting power restored to the residents and businesses of South Bend without jeopardizing the safety of the public or of our employees. We remind pedestrians to remain behind the barricades set up around work areas and ask motorists to be aware of utility crews working in the area.
