SP DIPOLOG EXPRESSES CONDOLENCE TO OISCA DIRECTOR IKEDA’S FAMILY The Sangguniang Panlunsod (SP) of Dipolog has passed Resolution Number 14-470 expressing the heartfelt condolence of the Sangguniang Panlungsod and the people of Dipolog to the bereaved family of the late Mr. Hiroshi Ikeda, Director of the Organization for Industrial, Spiritual and Cultural Advancement (OISCA) for Mindanao. It was learned that Ikeda died on November 27,2014 at the Red Cross Hospital in Tokyo, Japan. Ikeda, a Japanese national got married to a resident of Dipolog Bernarda Balingit and raised his family here while serving as the Director of OISCA Mindanao. During his lifetime Ikeda showed his abiding concern for Dipolog City and its people thus his untimely passing is considered a great loss not only to his family but also to the community. Dipolog City and its people are beneficiaries of some of the laudable projects of OISCA, and recipients of donations and other forms of assistance from Japanese friends due principally to the intercession and untiring efforts of Mr. Ikeda, which contributed to the progress of the city and the promotion of the welfare of its people. Some of these projects are the children’s forest in sitio Pamansalan , Diwan, tree planting and reforestation activities, and mangrove tree planting in some coastal areas in Zamboanga del Norte. Ikeda also initiated livelihood trainings and seminars on arts and crafts like basket weaving and hand-made paper making for women in the rural areas. Ikeda also established the OISCA Eco-Technology Training Center located in Barangay Bacuyong, Piňan, Zamboanga del Norte where trainings on agriculture and eco-technology are conducted and attended by Filipino and Japanese trainees. Through the efforts of Ikeda, amity, cooperation, and goodwill were established between the people of Japan and the people of Dipolog. The resolution was sponsored by city councilor Atty. James Cyril O. Ruiz and unanimously seconded by all members present , during the 77th regular session of the 14th Sangguniang Panlunsod of Dipolog held at the SP session hall on December 16,2014. Ikeda is survived by his wife Bernarda and children Romel, Namyo, Dr. Yusico Ikeda-Maquiling, Medori ug Deikako Ikeda. (CIO/ebp).
