SPACE….EVANSTON, ILL….1-24-14….SETLIST Space is a place that’s good to show your face if you like live music. As a musician, it’s a great place to play and as a music lover, a great place to hear and see music. We were not sure who would show up in the snow, but when they told us it was sold out we were ecstatic. The crowd was awesome and we had an amazing time playing for them ( and us ). The band, which we have been traveling pretty hard these last couple of weeks, was on fire last night with everyone giving it their everything. Gotta give a shout out to Ron Williams who is playing bass with us on this tour. Ron is a seriously playing bassman who is in his mid 20′s with lots of talent. He moved to N.O. from Florida a few years ago and he CAN play. He fits in very well in the N.O. music scene and we love having him on stage with us. Of course there’s Alvin Ford, Jr. who is also in his mid 20′s and he too CAN play and kicks it with his fiery playing. It’s good to play with musicians who love to play. It comes out in the music and the connection to the audience. Thanks also to Michael Clobes for sitting in with us. Michael helps to build trombones for the Edwards instrument company (which is the kind of trombone I play, Mark and Greg play KIng 2-B’s in case anyone was wondering. Yes, we truly are trombone geeks and yes, we do love playing the trombone). Also had our good friend Jeff O’Connor on bass sitting in and rocking it, big time. Thanks to everyone who supports live music in any kind of way possible and thanks to the clubs and festivals and folks who promote live music. Music is medicine and we need it to take our minds off of the everyday things that can stress us out. Keep supporting live music and remain sane in your brain.
