SPEAKING OF SENIOR PETS...... After seeing so many more senior dogs and cats in shelters these days the BCAS Silver Whiskers Program was born. We match seniors with seniors and take the pet back when they can no longer care or them or care for them i the client has a short term illness. We even pay for food, vet care and supplies if their income is low. I personally have such a spot in my heart for seniors.....animals and humans. I will ALWAYS remember a lady that came to BCAS specifically to adopt a 13 yr old female boxer. She had seen her on facebook and told me her story. This woman had two boxers of her own and always adopted a third senior in need. When the seniors passed she went on the hunt to give another senior a home filled with love and compassion until they passed. The last I heard our boxer was spending most of her days in the shade of her treed backyard or inside curled up by the ladys side. When I get too old to continue doing what I do this is exactly what Im going to do.......give a senior a good life until it lives no more. I encourage everyone who has a lifestyle that would be good for a senior to do the same. They typically have no more bad habits, pretty laid back and return the love two fold.
