SPECIAL ALERT on Potential Common Core Pushback in Kentucky: The Northern Kentucky Education Council FULLY SUPPORTS the Kentucky Core Academic Standards. Since the implementation of these standards the Northern Kentucky region has seen remarkable progress in student achievement rates. It is in the best interest of our children to support the Kentucky Core Academics Standards. On Tuesday, July 22, conservative commentator Glenn Beck will be airing a live event, called We Will Not Conform, in several movie theaters in Kentucky and across the country. It will be broadcast again on July 29. According to the website, the goal is for participants in theaters to interact with each other and develop tangible strategies for sending a wake-up call to Common Core supporters. If you receive questions as the result of this event, we encourage you to be proactive in sharing informative and accurate resources about the Common Core State Standards, known in Kentucky as the Kentucky Core Academic Standards. This will ensure that parents, teachers and the general public are getting factual information about standards at the same time.
