SPECIAL EDITION OF BIBLE SMACKDOWN: Follow-up on the “Arab Spring”, SYRIA & the Middle East Tuesdays, October 1 & 8, 7:00-8:30pm By popular demand, we continue our timely focus on Syria and the Middle East for two more Tuesday nights. Explore ten lessons we can learn from the Arab Spring. Why is Syria’s situation so significant to the region and the world? What is the background of this conflict and who are the players? Answers to these questions and more are the topic of a Special Edition of Bible Smackdown on Tuesday, October 1st and 8th from 7:00-8:30 pm at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Pastor Doug Cox will offer a primer on Syria from the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran to the present, facilitate questions and discussions, review how Lutherans are involved, and lead us in prayer for discernment for our leaders, our own future, and peace in Syria and throughout the region. Pastor Doug holds an M. A. in Islamic Studies, has lived and worked in Egypt, Tunisia, France, and Madagascar, and has been engaged in Christian/Muslim relations for 20 years.
