SPECIAL POINTS OF CONSIDERATION FOR THE CHAIN OF COMMAND: We received funding for design and construction to improve the B-455 interchange at Washington Strasse and to construct a new Access Control Point (ACP) along Washington Strasse. Garrison, Hessen and Wiesbaden city planners are working together on the B-455 interchange project. The enclosure of Hainerberg is intended to occur at the same time construction is completed on the new Wiesbaden Army and Air Force Exchange Service facility. Until then, host nation drivers and pedestrians are still able to use the Hainerberg roads. Design plans will start this month for a new ACP with construction slated to begin next summer. The construction of a new commissary is still in the planning stages with funding programmed for 2015 and construction possibly starting in 2016. Demolition of six housing buildings at Hainerberg will begin later this winter in preparation for the new 14,500-square-foot, $35 million Wiesbaden Exchange that will consolidate AAFES stores, concessions, food emporiums and local banking institutions in one location in Hainerberg Housing.
