SPECIAL THANKS AND CONGRATULATIONS TO EVEYONE WHO “VOTED NO”!!! Special thanks goes out to Chris Mueller--organizer of the Vote NO to Single County Executive campaign, to Farm Bureau PAC—who principally financed the VOTE NO campaign, to all the volunteers who worked hard behind the scenes (including Roy Buskirk, Michelle Hill, Audrey Miller-Queckboerner, Bill Wilcox and so very many more), and to all the supporters from elected officials (2/3 commissioners, 4/7 county council, 17/20 township trustees) to farmers and other educated citizens who allowed signs in their yards and helped organize toolshed meetings, and to my family of facebook friends, fans, subscribers and voyeurs who read “The Burgess Report” on this matter, shared it with others, advocated on behalf of VOTE NO and ultimately voted against the referendum. There’s a saying about how you should never underestimate the ability of a small group of people to get things done. Now, I don’t know if 46,776 (70.60% of referendum voters) can be considered a small group of people, but this campaign was a B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L example of progress over partisanship as Democrats, Republicans and Independents worked in unison to make this happen—putting aside all other political discord for a greater good.
