SPINAL FUSION SURGERY: NOVEMBER 25TH.............. Well as you know im having neck surgery on November 25th. Hell be fusing two levels in my neck and also correcting one level from the previous surgery i had. Its on the Monday before Thanksgiving, so itll be a tough Thanksgiving for me but worth it in the long run. I just hope and pray that this surgery is a complete success, unlike the last fusion. He did say however that there is about a 15% chance of some type of failure in the fusion taking, just like one level didnt fuse together on the last one. The difference with this surgeon and the last is number one he is supposed to be the best neck surgeon in the region, i was told by my other Dr. that i was lucky to have been able to get an appointment with him. Also the material he will be using is better. The first surgeon i had basically used plastic to fill the discs, this time we will be using actual donor bone from a cadaver along with the plates and screws. Its supposed to help the bone fuse together better and therefore be a complete success. Am i nervous? You bet i am, for one its taking place the Monday before Thanksgiving and once again they will be going through an incision in my throat. So by Thursday all of veins and muscles in my throat will still be out of wack therefore causing sore throat. I just hope im able to eat at least a small portion of turkey dinner by Thursday. You dont realize how one person effects a family until something happens to them. Austin will be out on vacation, so that will help and i believe Brooke is taking the entire week off. So please remember me in your prayers for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. This is going to sound strange but since the last surgery on my neck, in which the surgeon used a plastic spacer instead of donor bone, ive been having static electricity problems. Saying problems is putting it lightly, there will be times during the day and night in which EVERY hair on my body will stand straight up and it feels like i have creepy crawly things on me. But its not, its the static electricity and in spots where it feels like that, the actual hair itself will be moving, yes moving. It stopped bothering me for a long time but about three or four weeks ago it started again and this time its worse than ever. I dont know what to do or even if there is anything that can be done. Just hope im not stuck with this hairy problem the rest of my life because it will drive you crazy. I love you all and thank you in advance for your prayers and love.
