SPIRITUAL ADDICTION-is characterized as an inner ability to pursue - TopicsExpress

SPIRITUAL ADDICTION-is characterized as an inner ability to pursue either “oneness” with God through faith or the fulfillment of the motives of Satan through worldly desires. “The spiritual aspect of drug addiction (for example) is the total self-centeredness. We felt that we could stop whenever we wanted to, despite all evidence to the contrary. Denial, substitution, rationalization, justification, distrust of others, guilt, embarrassment, dereliction, degradation, isolation, and loss of control are all results of our disease.” as quoted from the Narcotics Anonymous Book. Substance abuse that is displayed by a user separates him or her from pursuing and accomplishing the will and purpose of God! Kenneth Copeland’s June 8, 2013 From Faith to Faith Daily Meditation entitled “ADDICTED TO THE WORD” says- “All you have to do is make a DECISION to give yourself to it (Living by the Word). “Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:” (Step 2- N.A. 12 Step Program “We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.”) To focus your time and attention on it (Living by the Word). The more you give yourself to it, the more your desire for it will grow. Eventually, it will consume your thinking. That same principle works on the positive side (of life) when you begin to give yourself (to applying the Word) to the point where it totally consumes your mental and physical life. The more of it you get, the more you want. The Spirit behind the Word, the Holy Spirit, will draw you and lead you closer to Jesus than you ever imagined possible. (James 4:8 says-Draw nigh to God and God will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.) I’ve never yet met anybody walking in faith and power who at sometime hadn’t developed that kind of addiction by giving themselves TOTALLY TO THE Word for an extended time. I don’t mean just a few minutes here and there either. I’m talking about some serious time. “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” Colossians 3:2
