SPIRITUAL DAILY DIGEST SATURDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER 2014 THE SAME REWARD (MATTHEW 25:19-30) “His Lord said to him, ‘well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord” V.23 A covetous man always ends up with nothing as a reward because his covetousness will lead him into throwing away everything he has gathered. You will observe that most gamblers often end up gambling away all the proceeds they get from it because of their covetous nature. The man with one talent was not satisfied with what has been given to him and ended up losing everything. He never knew if he had worked effectively with the one talent given to him, the same reward awaits him as the others. The servant with 5 talents as well as the one given 2 talents had the same blessings from their master according to verse 21 and 23. Talent distribution is orchestrated by the master who knows the ability of everyone. To whom much is given, much is expected; invariably, to whom less is given, less is expected. The master was not expecting the man with one talent to come up with five more, because he was pleased with the man who had two and came up with two more. Many fail to utilize their God-given talent because they feel it is too small or not well celebrated. For instance, as someone who cleans the church premises God can recognize you better than the choirmaster when you do your work with all diligence. The story of the widow who gave little but was celebrated by Jesus because that was her all readily comes to mind. Our ultimate reward as Christians is salvation which is not dependent on amount of works but faithfulness in carrying out whatever work has been assigned to us. Prayer Point: Lord Jesus, teach me to be a good and faithful servant that I may not lose my eternal rewards. Amen. Food for Thought! “Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labour” 1 Corinthians 3:8. Shalom! #proff4mercy
