SPIRITUAL FATHERS. #3. IDENTIFYING A FATHER. As I posted previously on the topic, a father is supposed to be natural, not artificial. He ought to naturally fit into the puzzle, and it should not take any effort to determine him. 2. A FATHER PROVIDES FOR. Since a father should participate in the growth, development and well being of his children, it must be his duty to provide basic necessities to make that happen. These are, I. Food. He should give you not just enough but balanced food. In the spiritual circle, he gives you the bread of life that is Gods word. It should be given as it is and in whole. He should be able to share all thats contained therein without fear or favor. Whatever the word provides for or rejects should be clearly said in the same language and seriousness it deserves. Your spiritual father must be a person who values the word whether in words or in deeds. A person who doesnt base himself on Gods word will definitely fail you, because whatever we do outside or without Gods word cant shape a man into godliness. II. SHELTER. A shelter is both a place to hide in and a comfort zone. In a shelter, one is secure and has company. Therefore, a father should be a security to His children as well as a source of encouragement to his children. These are not favourably a child should look for. They should flow naturally. These are virtues the father must show, and thats part of his identity! To continue.
