SPIRITUAL GIFTS # 3 Q. What is the difference between the gifts of the Spirit and the fruits of the Spirit? A. The gifts of the Spirit are given to help us minister to others. "11. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12. For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13. Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:" Eph, 4:11-13. The gifts of the Spirit are to help you be an effective witness in whatever ministry the Lord had called you to do. "8. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9. To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10. To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11. But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will." 1Cor. 12:8-11. The fruits of the Spirits are designed to change us into the image of our Lord. "22. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23. Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." Gal. 5:22,23. By daily surrendering our lives to the working of the Holy Spirit, we change into His likeness.
