SPIRITUAL PERSPECTIVE ON LOVE AND RELATIONSHIP Where should you seek love? This is the most important question to answer before attempting to enter into any kind of relationship. The main reason why many people cannot comprehend what a meaningful relationship entails is because they are looking for love outside themselves. They go around seeking to gather love from other people in order to convince themselves that they are worth it. But this is the worst self defeating attitude to have. You are not supposed to ask or to beg anyone to love you. You must rather begin by loving yourself and treating yourself with respect and dignity. This is not a narcissistic kind of self-love because the aim here is to develop a healthy sense of self-esteem and to know that you DESERVE to have the best things in life and be with the best people. For how can you expect other people to love you and enjoy your company if you do not love yourself or enjoy your own company? Such an expectation is not only unreasonable, but it is also unfair because it is as if you are asking others to take what you yourself don’t like having. When you truly love and value yourself, you will stop stressing about the need for someone else to love and appreciate you. Only when you are in such a stable emotional state will you be able to effortlessly love others and appreciate what they are offering you without casting any judgment. You will also not be fooled by (or settle for) a facade of love from others because you will be calm and confident enough to be able to detect those pretending to love you while in actual fact they are only driven by selfish or insecure motives.
