SPLIT ZOO TO BE RELOCATED The city council of Split last week made a decision about the relocation of the Split ZOO Marjan. The conclusion is to start to relocate the ZOO and open an animal shelter, thus presented the deputy mayor Goran Kovacevic. Kovacevic has explained to the councillors that the current location Marjan does not fullfill the conditions for a ZOO and therefore they are looking for a new location and in the meantime they would conduct the decision about relocation according to the conclusion from 2006. Adoption is long-term process so as searching for a location. Split, as the most popular tourist city, has been declared that it has one of the most monstrous ZOOs said Kovacevic. The deputy mayor stated that he requested a list of species from the director of the ZOO and the dynamics of moving. Councillor Ivan Banovic has stated that he would take effort to close all the ZOOs on the planet because wild animals does not belong in cages. (dalmatinskiportal.hr)
