SPLM takes practical measures for the release of twenty (20) Prisoners of War (POWs) In a resolution issued by the Chairman of the Sudan Peoples Liberation Movement – N, Cdr Malik Agar, a committee composed of comrades Mubarak Ardol, Suleiman Osman Hamid and Bakri Abdel Basset Madani has been formed. The principal task of the committee is concerning the release of prisoners of war (POWs), and this committee is scheduled to move to the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa for the necessary arrangements regarding the deportation of twenty (20) of the POWs who are currently under the SPLM-N custody and are affiliated to the Government of Sudan in coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in particular Addis Ababa office, the departure of the plane is should be from the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa heading to the SPLM-N Controlled areas in South Kordofan / Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile regions. The SPLM-N POWs committee is working under the direct supervision of the Secretary-General of the SPLM-N Cdr Yassir Arman. Worth to mention that the committee will continue its contacts with the Reform and Renaissance initiative (Saihon). SPLM-N hopes that this process is accomplished as soon as possible so that these prisoners of war return back safely to their families and relatives, the SPLM-N also urging the Sudanese government to reach a comprehensive agreement for the release of prisoners of war, convicts, discuss the issue of missing persons, stopping government aerial bombardments against civilians and allowing unhindered humanitarian aid access on basis of international humanitarian law, norms and standards to the needy peoples in the war affected regions in Darfur, Blue Nile and Southern Kordofan / Nuba Mountains.
