The Premier League will not take any further action against Sunderland, despite three clubs writing a joint letter asking why they were not docked points for fielding an ineligible player. Sunderland were fined substantially for playing Ji Dong-won in four top-flight matches when he did not have international clearance from FIFA at the start of the season. But they were not docked points as several clubs were — including AFC Wimbledon, deducted three points a week ago, and Altrincham, who lost 18 points — for the same offence. After the seventh home defeat of a wretched Premier League campaign against Sunderland on Saturday, Manchester United will be desperate to make amends when they host Hull City on Tuesday. TENNIS: Former British number one tennis player, Elena Baltacha has died of liver cancer, aged 30. Born in Ukraine and raised in Scotland, Baltacha revealed she had the illness in March this year. Baltacha, who was British number one for nearly three years, retired from the sport in November 2013. MPU MASAKA RALLY: Former National Rally champion (NRC) Ronald Ssebuguzi extended his lead at the top of the NRC log after clinching victory in the MPU Masaka Rally, the third event of the 2014 calendar. Sebuguzi beat rivals Duncan “Kikankane” Mubiru and Jonas Kansiime after completing the 290km event in two hours, twenty four minutes and twenty six seconds. Mubiru winner of the season’s first event in Mbarara came second after posting 2:29:40. Kansiime followed closely in third place after clocking 2:43:45 while Peter Kakaire, Fred Wampamba and Geoffrey Nsamba completed the top six in that order. With five rounds yet to be done, Sebuguzi leads the standings with 250 points having attained his first victory of the campaign followed by Kansiime (200 points) and Mubiru (175pts). Next on the NRC calendar is the Southern Motor Challenge Rally more likely to be staged in areas of Mukono or Luweero.
