SPORTS UPDATE WITH EMMAH ATAI: Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has said that he wants his side to win the Premier League title this season. The Red Devils claimed a 4-0 win over Queens Park Rangers on Sunday to give Van Gaal his first victory in charge of the club. I want to win the Premier League title, BBC Sport quotes him as saying. If it is not this year then the second or third year. I want to give a championship to the fans. My teams are always focused on attack, but it is not our focus, that is to be in the first three. The most important thing is the trajectory. United are currently ninth in the Premier League table. Rio Ferdinand says John Terry has never personally apologised to him or his brother Anton over the racist abuse row in a Premier League game in 2011. Quoted in the Sun, Rio Ferdinand said he no longer talks to Terry after the abuse Anton Ferdinand received during a match between Chelsea and QPR. Terry was acquitted of charges of racial abuse following a trial in July 2012, but was later banned for four matches and fined £220,000 by the FA. He then apologised for his behaviour. Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has admitted that he prefers playing as an attacking midfielder rather than the holding role he performed on England duty. The Three Lions international was used at the base of the midfield by manager Roy Hodgson as they beat Switzerland 2-0 last Monday. However, Wilshere was selected further forward for the Gunners against Manchester City on Saturday, and scored as they drew 2-2 at the Emirates. Arsene Wengers side travel to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday. Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany believes that his side are going into their Champions League campaign full of confidence. The Citizens have failed to progress beyond the round of 16 in the competition in their past three seasons, but Kompany feels that his side made progress last year as they defeated Bayern Munich 3-2 at the Allianz Arena.
