SPREAD THIS WORD CHARLOTTESVILLE AND SURROUNDING AREAS...Monday at 6:00 PM! We will #March4Justice! Meet Us at First Baptist Church on W. Main St. and we will Peacefully Protest up W. Main to the Federal Building where we will have a vigil, and then to the Free Speech Wall! We are asking for THREE things from our local leaders: 1. Ban Racial profiling by creating and mandating local ordinances that speak specifically to the data found in the Data. It is NOT enough to throw $25K for training, we need continued dialogue, and COMMUNITY POLICING. The CHRA Board and Council MUST work together to appropriate the proper funds to BRING OFFICERS BACK INTO OUR COMMUNITIES! Officers MUST have ability to create and maintain healthy relationships! 2. Tracks ALL inappropriate contact with Law Enforcement and Minority citizens (Utilize the DMC Data). All contact needs to be reviewed monthly by a board of citizens that consists of members of the community. 3. Council needs to allocate the funds needed to have body cameras for ALL law enforcement officials in Charlottesville. The same funds need to be appropriated for the county. ***It is not enough for us to simply protest in the city, we need to do the same in the county. That effort needs to take place the following week.***
