SR SHAIL UMESH BUCH FURTHER UP DATES ______________________________________________________________________ From the various versions in Ahmedabad Mirror and other Media it appears that Dr Shail Umesh Buch a Resident Doctor pursuing MD Ped in VS Hospital could not resist work pressure, in human treatment, ragging inside the College, mental harassment by Seniors and Teachers, Overload work leading to no family and personal life, and succumbed to all these and selected the extreme step by jumping in front of speeding goods train and died Even his father, leading and senior Children Specialist Dr Umesh Dhimantrai Buch admitted this in front of Media and added that He was also a student of same VS and had undergone tremendous work pressure but the seniors and teachers always treated and guided him and all others as human being while today’s situation is quite opposite . There is also a report that students some time faced physical slapping also especially orthopedic branch. Students never approached Authorities with an apprehension of that they will be declared fail in the examination/viva by same Teachers and Seniors against whom they complain. If my report is not proved wrong otherwise these students are treated almost as Bonded Workers working 24x7x365, daily 20 to 25 attending more than 25 child patients m not allowing the Resident Doctors out of College Campus . use of abusive languages so often throwing something or the other on face, .Surprisingly if ward boy or sub staff comes late or roaming here and there is no control on them and no a action while if the Resident Doctors are genuinely late or went for natural calls and take little more time they are subject to humiliation It is also reported that there is clearly a Groupism’ in the College one is Inter State Quota Students and another is Gujarat State Students Group and former Group has all sorts of nuisances aimed at harassment to Gujarat State Students These are the few citations of harassment and torture Dr Umesh Buch, father of deceased Dr Shail rightly admitted with great pain in the heart that their son cannot come back now but he expects a sweep change in the whole system right from admission procedure that no more such deaths repeat in future It is a clear good case of PIL and Human Rights Commission and someone should start that exercise Uday Vasavada 2 Ami Avenue Azad Society Ahmedabad 380015 9375537878
