SR99 CLOSURE THIS WEEKEND SDOT reminds travelers of the upcoming full weekend closure of SR 99 and Mercer St. between 5th Ave. N and Dexter Ave. N beginning tonight, July 5 through July 8 for construction activities associated with the West Phase of the Mercer Corridor Project. Weekend work on SR 99 and Mercer Street: Friday, July 5 through Monday, July 8 Over the weekend, Mercer Corridor Project crews will demolish the east side of the SR 99 bridge over Mercer St. SR 99 and Mercer St. will be fully closed to traffic beginning Friday, July 5 at midnight to Monday, July 8 at 5:00 a.m. During the closure: · SR 99 will be fully closed between Valley St. and the southern end of the Battery St. Tunnel. Traffic traveling through Seattle via SR 99 will be directed to I-5 north of Seattle at 85th St. or south of Seattle at E Marginal Way and Spokane St. More information about alternate routes during construction may be found at: seattle.gov/transportation/mercercorridor.htm. · Mercer St. will be fully closed to traffic between 5th Ave. N and Dexter Ave. N. Traffic heading east towards I-5 will be detoured to Harrison and Broad streets at 5th Ave. N and will reconnect to Mercer St. at 9th Ave. N to continue east. · No pedestrian access will be allowed on Mercer St. between 5th Avenue N and Dexter Ave. N during the weekend closure. Pedestrians will need to use the sidewalk on the north side of Broad St. to cross SR 99. · Broad St. and the I-5 on- and off-ramps at Mercer St. will remain open during the weekend work. Early warning signs will be available in advance of the SR 99 lane restrictions. Travelers can expect significant traffic and delays and should plan ahead and use alternate routes.
