SRC President 2014/15 Mcebo Dlamini Dear students, The 2014/2015 Student Representative Council (SRC) is ready to serve and lead the student populace of the University of the Witwatersrand as you bestowed us with the mandate. We as the SRC would like to thank you for the confidence you have shown in us. Our motto for the year is simple and is ‘Putting students first’. We will make it our paramount goal to serve you to the best of our abilities at all times. Of course our first mandate is to wish everyone sitting for their examination well and the best of luck. We would thus have to grant our deepest apologies for sending out this message late into the exams, as many students have already sat for their first and some even, their second exams. Charged with high spirits and enthusiasm going into this term of office, we thus believe that it is never late to let students know that this SRC cares about their academic performances. With that being said, the 2014/2015 SRC wishes all students the best of luck in your examinations. May God grant you strength to study uninterrupted, remember and discharge the information as you sit in for the exams. We wish the best to those doing their final year. May you prosper in your future endeavors as you represent Wits in the professional sphere. We take pride and inspiration in the University ambassadors contributing in changing the socio-economic conditions of our country. To the many of those seeking to pursue postgraduate studies, the SRC is behind you all the way. As a matter of fact we would like to encourage our graduates to also consider this route, and make education fashionable. The world out there can be harsh without a postgraduate degree. In line with the Wits’ aspiration of being the best in research output, we call on our students to take up this space and become the next line of academics. To those doing their first or second year, you mean as much to us as the departing students. Go into your exams and be yourself, and you shall conquer. We would like to see you again in the following year, having progressed to the next level of your degree. The SRC knows very well the existence of this monster called exclusion, be it an academic or a financial one. As thus, we would like to plead with any student facing challenges to visit our offices on the second floor of the Matrix. The SRC will be in the office during the entire festive break to ensure that all our students return to university the following year. Once again, best of luck in your exams, enjoy your festive and return back safely the following year to what we promise to be the most magnificent Wits O-Week ever Good luck Students!
