SRINAGAR,30-09-13;- Chairman Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani today termed as diplomatic custom the meetings between the Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan and added that, viable and democratic solution of Kashmir conflict, is only possible through UN resolutions. He said Kashmir is a very important issue and it needs to be resolved as per the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. India should realize and take into account the ground realities and shun its unrealistic approach. It is a disputed territory and not an integral part of India said Syed Ali Geelani while reacting to the statement of Indian Premier wherein he said that Kashmir is an integral part .Syed Ali Geelani reiterated his stand that without taking into consideration the aspirations of the people of Kashmir, no lasting and purposeful settlement can be expected. Syed Ali Geelani impressed upon Pakistani rulers to make dialogues Kashmir centric and urged to shun their apologetic approach. Syed Ali Geelani criticized Mr Manmohan Singh for his statement in UN General Assembly saying that it was just a customary statement and flayed him for their stubbornness approach and added that viable solution of Kashmir conflict is only possible through resolutions passed in United Nations Organization. Taking dig at Prime Minister of India for his remarks that UN resolutions have turned outdated with the passage of time, Syed Ali Geelani hit back saying that then similar is the case with the dubious instrument of accession signed by then Maharaja Hari Singh and said this too has lost its validity and added that on the basis of this document India continues its forced occupation. Syed Ali Geelani rejected the Shimla Agreement of 1971 saying that we are not bound to accept it and it can never form a basis for any solution or agreement for Kashmir as Kashmiri people are not a party to this agreement and it has no credibility, said Syed Ali Geelani. Monday in a detailed statement he made it clear that it is neither a border issue nor a matter related to mutual trade, instead it is a matter of future of over 130 million Kashmiris and neither they can be taken as for granted nor their aspirations can be ignored. While referring to the statement of Indian Prime Minister wherein he has said that Kashmir is the integral part of India, syed Ali Geelani said such statements cannot change the reality and seriousness of this issue. Kashmir conflict is an established fact and even the late leaders like Pt Jawahir Lal Nehru, Lal Bhadur Shastri and Indira Gandhi too were rhetoric about it being an integral part of India ,however said Syed Ali Geelani ,the reality did not changed. Syed Ali Geelani said that policy makers in Delhi have devised a mechanism and said they have for all purpose reserved a typed copy of a lecture and exactly the same was delivered by Manmohan Singh in UN Assembly. Syed Ali Geelani said Kashmiri people are all up and against the forced occupation of India. India with its might is subjugating and brutally killing the people. Syed Ali Geelani said that we were not expecting any breakthrough from the meeting between the two prime ministers and added that it is high time for both leadership from India and Pakistan to move beyond rhetoric and take serious steps for its resolution and added unless the India recognizes the aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan leadership with logic stresses for its solution no breakthrough is possible.
