SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 13: Chairman JKLF Mohammad Yasin Malik was arrested by police along with many others today when he was leading a peaceful march towards Lal Chowk. Other JKLF leaders arrested include Noor Mohammad Lalwal, Mohammad Yasin Bhat, Syed Nisar Jeelani, Prof. Javed, Shahid Makaya etc. Chairman Muslim Conference Shabir Ahmad Dar, Chairman Islamic Political Party Mohammad Yousuf Naqash and chairman human rights forum Ahsan Untoo also participated in the protest and were arrested along with Chairman JKLF. Yasin Malik who evaded arrest last night arrived at JKLF headquarters just before the protest and led a remarkable peaceful procession towards Lal Chowk. Police had placed barricades on the roads leading to Lal Chowk and as this procession of thousands reached Budshah Chowk police and other forces tried to stop it there. Participants of the procession broke police cordon many times and reached near Ghanta Ghar Chowk before being arrested. Before his arrest, Yasin Malik addressed media and public who in large numbers had come to participate in protest despite heavy rains. Yasin Malik said that today’s protest is against the spree of killings, reign of terror unleashed in Shupian and whole valley, genocide of kashmiri youth, arrests, curfew politics and other oppressive measures. Yasin Malik said that Indian forces are killing kashmiri’s with impunity. These trigger happy soldiers, with the backing and shield of black Laws like AFPSA with them kill anyone who comes in their way and no one dares to ask them any question or put them on trail. He said that forces killed four young boys in Shopian without any provocation or reason. Instead of arresting these killers, rulers imposed curfew, started spree of arrests, arrested and house arrested pro resistance leaders and thus punished whole Kashmir. The wounds of Shupian martyrs were still fresh when same camp boarding same forces again fired upon many youth killing one more and injuring many others. Yasin Malik said on one hand this massacre and oppression continues while as on the other hand Indian rulers, their forces and media started their ugly propaganda and tried to dub this killing as a militant attack to safeguard the killer forces. He said that Indian media and news channels who are always on their toes to malign and defame kashmiri’s and their struggle are today silent about these criminal acts of Indian forces and are acting as if nothing is happening in Kashmir. Yasin Malik said that perusing anti-kashmiri agenda Indian rulers and their forces are acting like Hitler’s of this age and Indian media like Gobbles. Terming pro-India politicians of Kashmir as Wicked and Liars, Yasin sahib said that kashmiri rulers, pro-India politicians and parties including NC, PDP, Congress, Communists and independents enjoy luxuries of power and state assembly and as soon as their forces kill kashmiri’s start shedding crocodile tears to deceive common people .He said that if these politicians believe in what they say and have any sympathy with those killed they should resign from assembly and power first. Yasin Malik said in fact these assembly members and rulers are behind the miseries of kashmiris as they help killer forces with necessary legal cover and authority to kill people. Yasin Malik said that today’s protest is against oppression and reign of terror and India and its rulers must know that kashmiris cannot be defeated by these repressive measures. Yasin Malik said that every nook and corner of Kashmir is filled with martyr’s graveyard and we pledge to continue our struggle till the achievement of freedom. Yasin Malik said that kashmiri have seen massacres and probes from 1947. We don’t believe in any probe as it has never yielded anything. Yasin Malik condemned the criminal silence of world on the plight of kashmiri’s and said that this criminal attitude of world will make sub continent and the whole world more dangerous place to live on.
