SRIT - News letter - November 2014 Apologies for the delay in sending the news letter of November, 2014. Please find the summary of all activities (Workshops/Seminars/Awareness programs/T&P/Other activities..) happened in the month of November, 2014. *** Department of ECE have conducted a national level workshop on “Home Automation Applications Using Embedded Systems” on 1st & 2nd November, 2014. 110 students from various Engg colleges were attended in the workshop, and they gained good hands on experience apart from theoretical knowledge. - On 5/November/2014, Dr. U.R.K Rao, Ex HOD of Mechanical Department, IIT Delhi had an interaction with III B.Tech (Mechanical) students. Main questions were pertaining to career & life raised by the students, and all of them were answered in detailed with practical examples. He highlighted many points which are very essential for any person to be a happy & successful person in life and career. Many thanks to R.K sir (who worked in IITD for 36 years) for choosing our institute to share his valuable inputs & suggestions with young minds of current generation. - On 13/November/2014, Mr. Ashutosh Mehta, HR Head, West Line Ship Management Pvt Ltd came to our institute for conducting an on-campus drive. West Line Ship Management Pvt Ltd (westlineshipping.in) is a shipping “Crew Manning” Company which manages over more than 67 ships which consist of Indian Coastal and Foreign going ships like Tanker vessel, Container Vessel, General Cargo Vessels and etc. Training will be done in 2 phases. Phase I: Pre-Sea Training: Fully residential training will be provided in one of the shipping college approved by D.G Shipping Government of India which includes lodging, Boarding, Transportation etc. Phase II: On-Board Training: After Completion of the Pre-Sea Training, the trained student will be joining one of their managed vessels to complete his On-board ship training in which he will be getting the stipend of approximately Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000 depending upon the type and the trading area of that particular ship. The Re-Payment of the education loan which the student has taken for his Phase I Training could be paid by the student from the amount of stipend which he receives in Phase II Training. Trained student will be joining 1 of their managed vessel as an officer level rank with the minimum salary of Rs 1, 50,000 per Month which can grow up to Rs. 9,00,000 per month. - The ANDROID APP training program was conducted over the weekends, started on 11/October/2014 and ended on 09/November/2014. This 10 day training program was conducted by CSE & INF department under CSI- SRIT student branch in association with techEmbark, Bengaluru. The total number of students attended the training program were 93. The main motto of the training program was to make the students develop Apps on their own. We were extremely happy that, all students who got trained came up with 21 Apps for the ANDROID APP EXHIBITION conducted on 15/November/2014. The exhibition was conducted very well and it was covered by print media & electronic media (ETV). It was telecasted on 16th & 17th November, 2014 in Yuva program (https://youtube/watch?v=C-6XYPYjxBs.) of ETV. - On 15/November/2014, Programmers club of CSE & IT have conducted activities ( Open debate and quiz) for III & IV B.Tech (CSE) students. An Open Debate was conducted on Role of Youngsters in Countrys development, many IV and III B.Tech students shared their thoughts & views and made a nice discussion. Quiz competition was conducted as second activity on JAVA Programming, Taglines & Logos of IT and other non-IT MNCs. - One of our student Riyaz Ahammad , IV B.Tech (IT) got placed in Capgemini on 16/November/2014. His CTC is 2.4 Lakh for first 6 months and then it would be 3.05 Lakh. - Selection of Kabaddi (Men) team for JNTUA for the year AY 2014-15 was done on 17/November/2014 at SRIT. Joji Reddy, Sports Board Secretary, JNTUA and others selected 17 (12+5) candidates (out of 100 who came from all affiliated Engg colleges) for the team who will be participating in South India Inter University tournament. - Govt Blood bank, Anantapuramu approached us through Manavatha Convener Amarnath Reddy Tarimela for conducting blood donation camp at our college, so we have arranged one camp on 18/November/2014. Thanks to all 101 students & faculty who donated their blood to Govt hospital blood bank who were facing so many issues due to the shortage of blood. - Thanks, SRIT.
