SRÍ KÁLIYÁKRSNA DÁS THÁKUR VrajaLélä svarüp: LavaìgaSakhä [GauraGaëoddeçaDépikä 132] Çrépäö: Äkäihäö Tirobhäv (disappearance): AgrahäyanéKåñëaDvädaçé Samädhi: Äkäihäö There are two Kåñëadäs’ mentioned in both Sré ChaitanyaCharitämrita [ÄdiLélä 11.36&37] and Sré ChaitanyaBhägavat [AntyaLílá 5.739&740]. The first has been referred to as DvijaKåñëadäs. Both have been listed amongst the followers of NityänandaPrabhu. ‘Krsna dás was born in a bráhmana family in RárhDesh. He was a superior servant of NityánandaPrabhu. ‘Chief amongst the Vaishnavas was KáláKrsnadás. He didn’t know anything or anyone other than NityánandaChandra.’ [Srí ChaitanyaCharitámrita ÁdiLílá 11.36-7] ‘KáliyáKrsna dás is celebrated throughout the three worlds. One can attain the lotus feet of Srí GauraChandra simply by remembering him.’ [Srí ChaitanyaBhágavat AntyaLílá 5.740] KäläKåñëa däs’s Çrépäö is at Äkäihäö, adjacent to the city of Kaöwa. Here he installed ÇréÇré RädhäVallabhjéu but they have since moved to Karui, about ten kilometres from Äkäihäö. The ankle bracelet of RaghuNandanÖhäkur is also being worshipped at Karui. When the disciple of RaghuNandanÖhäkur, Kåñëa däs, passed away, his disciple, NavaGauräìga däs, brought ÇréÇré RädhäVallabh and the nüpur of his param guru to his birthplace at Karui. There is a local legend that the ankle bracelet of RaghuNandanThákur came off as he was dancing with AbhirámThákur at BorDángá, just outside of SríKhanda, and fell down at Ákáihát, a few miles distant from BorDángá. The first six children born to NityánandaPrabhu left this world as a result of the prachanda pranám (formidable obeisances) of Srí AbhirámThákur. Therefore, when he arrived at SríKhanda one day to meet RaghuNandan, RaghuNandan’s father, Mukunda, overwhelmed by paternal affection, hid his son, telling Abhirám that he had gone to the home of his maternal uncle. When RaghuNandan came to know that Abhirám was going away unhappy since he could not meet him, RaghuNandan ran after him and caught up with him at BorDángá. He very easily withstood the force of Abhirám’s obeisance and there at BorDángá they had their own festival of chanting and dancing in ecstasy. During this festival of dancing RaghuNandan Thákur’s ankle bracelet (núpur) came off. There is a pond in Ákáihát where the ankle bracelet landed, called NúpurKund. RaghuNandan could easily withstand the force of Abhirám’s salutations since he was the incarnation of Pradyumna, VisnuTattva. KäläKåñëa dás used to perform his bhajan by the side of this pond (NüpurKuëò). There is a very ancient Mädhavé latä still growing there. The samädhi of KäläKåñëa dás is situated here as well. bhajan- worship, adoration KáláKrsna dás was present at the disappearance festival of DásGadádhar Prabhu, held at Katwa. [BhaktiRatnákar 10.409] KáláKrsna dás once went on a preaching tour to Pábna, BánglaDesh, where he established a Srípát at SonáTalá. Here he married and had a son named Mohan dás. After his son was grown, he left him there and went with his wife to Vrindában. In Vrindában, another son was born to KáláKrsna dás and his wife. He was named Gauránga dás (also known as Vrindában dás). Eventually KáláKrsna dás sent Gauránga dás to join Mohan dás in SonáTalá, stipulating that he should receive a six-anna share of the property there. KáláKrsna dás had a Deity made in the likeness of GovindDev, named Srí KáláChánd. This Deity he also sent with Gauránga dás. There are sixteen annas to a rupee, so that would be 37.5% of the property. The foundation and some of the bricks from the temple in SonäTalä, as well as the stairs to the pond (pukur) can still be seen (1951). Previously ÇríÇrí KäläCändjé would spend two months in each of the homes of his sevaits, the descendants of KäläKåñëa’s sons. Then he returned to SonäTalä to live. The disappearance festival of KäläKåñëa däs is celebrated at Äkäihät on the twelfth day of the dark fortnight in the month of Chaitra and in SonäTalä on the twelfth day of the dark fortnight in the month of Agrahäyan. There are different opinions as to whether or not this is the same KäläKåñëa däs who accompanied Mahäprabhu to SouthIndia. references to KáliyáKrsna dás from: Srí ChaitanyaCharitámrita: ÁdiLílá 11.36-7
