#SSU #SPORTSUPDATE Chelsea captain John Terry said on Tuesday he was delighted by the way they had started their quest to regain the English title but insisted there was plenty of work to be done before the Premier League trophy was back at Stamford Bridge. Table-toppers Chelsea are five points clear of second-placed Manchester City, the reigning champions, heading into the international break. Chelsea have yet to lose in the Premier League this season, winning six out of seven games with their worst result a 1-1 draw away to City. Sunday saw Chelsea see off London rivals Arsenal 2-0 in fine style and, with the club having been crowned champions when leading from the front during manager Jose Mourinhos first spell in charge, some observers are already questioning whether the Blues can be caught. ------------ Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has revealed he considered leaving Old Trafford during a difficult start to his career at the Premier League club. The 23-year-old was Uniteds key performer in their 2-1 win over Everton on Sunday and the Spaniard earned glowing reviews for the way he saved a Leighton Baines penalty and acrobatically denied Leon Osman and Bryan Oviedo. It was probably one of my best performances for Manchester United. I was really happy about that, De Gea said. Games like that helps your confidence grow. But three years ago De Gea could barely muster a smile by the time he got home after matches. His dream move from Atletico Madrid immediately turned into a nightmare when he was blamed for both goals in Uniteds narrow Community Shield win over Manchester City. Errors followed against Basle and Benfica and De Gea also cost United points against West Bromwich Albion and Blackburn among others. --------- Christopher Katongo says Zambia are going to Niger on a do-or-die mission. Katongo said nothing but a win will do for Zambia will do in their third 2015 Africa Cup Group F game as they chasing their first win in the qualifiers. “We are going away and I have told the boys that we are not considering this as an away game otherwise if we just slip another one point or zero point we will start to count ourselves out .This is a do or die game,” Katongo said. Zambia are third in Group F with one point, five points behind leaders Cape Verde who beat them 2-1 on match-day-two on September 10 in Praia. Mozambique, who drew 0-0 with Zambia in Ndola on September 6, are second with two points while Niger are bottom tied on one point with their guests this weekend in Niamey. ---------- Nkana coach Beston Chambeshi has praised his players for showing the character of a champion in Saturday’s dramatic away win over Green Buffaloes. The defending champions, who trailed 1-0 in the first half, scored two goals in the last 19 minutes of their FAZ Super League game to beat Buffaloes 2-1 at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka. “The boys have shown they are championship material,” said Chambeshi, adding, “We will fight until the last game of the season.” “I am happy with this result (because) it shows we are still in there contesting for the league.” Nkana were on the backfoot in the first half against Buffaloes, who took the lead in the 26th minute through a Victor Chimbulu header. ------------- American swimmer Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian of all time, was suspended for six months by USA Swimming on Monday following his recent arrest on a drunken driving charge. Phelps, who recently returned to top-level competition after a two-year retirement, will also not be allowed to represent the United States at the 2015 FINA World Swimming Championships in Russia next August, USA Swimming said in a statement. The arrest last Tuesday marked the second time the 29-year-old Baltimore-area native had been arrested for drunken driving, the first being in 2004. In the first case, he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of driving while impaired in exchange for 18 months probation.
