AT LITTLE OR NO COST TO TAX PAYERS AND TO THE VIRGIN ISLANDS GOVERNMENT In the past, properly managed Virgin Islands stamp issues provided a reliable source of revenue for the Virgin Islands Treasury, for well over a century since 1866, when the first stamps of the Virgin Islands were issued. The advent of internet and digital technology gives the dangerous illusion that we can dispense with much of what is myopically labeled as "past". The truth is that stamps are still used in all of the countries on this planet and this will continue to be so for many generations to come. Most countries are still making substantial revenue from the sale of stamps to stamp collectors BUT it all depends on how competently they strategise and market their stamps.
