STARGAZING EVENT - AUGUST 21ST - 22ND Shalom Mosaic Chevre, To date only 12 people have signed up. I have nearly no deposits in hand, and time is running short. If I have enough registrants to cover the cost of the astronomer by Sunday August 17, the show will go on! Location We will be sleeping at Beerot campground near Mitzpe Ramon. The program will take place a short walk from the campground. Accommodations Beerot Campground has toilets, washing facilities, and hot showers. A communal refrigerator is available. The shelters have electric sockets, but they are near the “ceiling.” If you plan to use them, bring an extension cord. Bring your own tent: NIS 50 per person In the Bedouin shelter with mattresses: NIS 65 per person Sleeping bag rental: NIS 10 Each participant must pay the campground management for his/her accommodations. The NIS 75 deposit does not cover accommodations. Schedule • The star program starts at 9 pm, and will last about 3 hours. • Please arrive at the campsite in time to get settled before the program starts. If you arrive late, park at the campground and WALK to the viewing area. Headlights wreck the experience for everyone, and make it impossible for us to see the stars. • After the program, participants may retire to the campground, sleep under the stars, or stay up to watch the moonrise • In the morning we will have a communal pot luck breakfast, and then depart. Transportation • Participants arrange their own transportation. • I will post a Google spreadsheet with details of people seeking rides and people offering rides, when enough people provide particulars to make it a useful tool. • Passengers will pay drivers for their share of the transportation cost. The car pool spreadsheet will include a formula for calculating a fair share. • People who provide all of the information requested here will be able to access the spreadsheet. o Your full name o Your phone number o Your email address for accessing the spreadsheet o The city where youre leaving from and where youre returning to o Specify driver or passenger o Drivers: How many passengers do you have room for? Take into account: space for passengers camping gear and food, and the size of your car Estimated time of departure Driving Directions • Take Route 40 past Mitzpe Ramon. • Approximately 9 km east of Mitzpe Ramon, turn left at the sign to Beerot. • Drive approximately 4 km on the dirt road to the campground. Price Star program: NIS 75 per person (registration fee), paid to Mosaic. Camping: NIS 50 (or NIS 65 for the Bedouin shelter), paid directly to the Nat’l Parks Authority. Transportation: As agreed between each driver and his/her passengers. Breakfast: Bring something to share at the communal dairy pot luck meal. Registration Note: This program requires a minimum registration of 27 participants. You are registered when I acknowledge receipt of your NIS 75 deposit.
