STARLIGHT ANGELS THANKSGIVING S.A.S.S. UPDATE 11/23/2014 ************************************************ (Next SASS ... November 30TH) On November 23rd, Team Metatron (Ramona, Fran and Nellene) came together for our forty-fourth (44th) SASS!!! Jerri and Tracy joined to help with the backpack share. We shared.... 45 Full Meals + x-tra PB&J Sandwiches (Homemade roasted turkey w/ gravy, dressing, cranberry sauce, greenbeans, pumpkin pie, banana, cold water... & special food for our 4-legged friends!) **The hygiene kits were included in the backpacks** This was our Thanksgiving share. We wanted to share a little extra on this day, so we gathered as many backpacks as possible and stuffed them with the hygiene kits and other donated items. It was AWESOME!!! Thank you Ramona, Nellene, & Tracy for stuffing the backpacks with these wonderful items ... so we can share these wonderful backpacks!!! Thank you EVERYONE for each special contribution in ALL forms!!! Whether financial, volunteer time, food donations, or holding the space in Love and Light... ALL contributions work together to assist Starlight Angels on this truly magical journey of service... Thoughts and Reflections..... . One year ago was our first Thanksgiving share, with our first Thanksgiving meal. Since that time, weve been blessed to meet some amazingly wonderful spirits. I have been blessed to learn many life changing lessons during this past year. I am so thankful to have this opportunity to do what I love to do... cook, share the food, and give lots of hugs!!! There are lots of new faces... and many names that I do not know. There have been many positive changes seen in the lives of those that we serve, and this fills me with more desire to continue on this journey of service. The moment we hit the main street, we immediately see that the intersections are filled with men and women holding signs asking for help, or selling papers to make enough money for a room that night. The backpacks were a MUCH welcome surprise to all of our friends!! We even shared a power ranger backpack... and the guy LOVED it! It was humbling to see most begin to fill their backpacks with their personal belongings ... right then and there. One of our new friends shared that he had been hit 4 times... and it was clear that he had a hearing problem. His glasses stayed on his face... thanks to a roll of tape and a prayer. But, he was smiling, welcoming, and thankful. We saw a couple of the guys that had been MIA for a few weeks. One simply said, I made a mistake... and now Im moving on with my life.
