STATE OF THE NATION ADDRESS today by the President of Uganda contained a number of interesting statements and declarations to the country. The following is a highlight of the Presidents address: 1. Ugandas economy continues to be vibrant on the local, regional and international scenes; 2. The demand for coffee and tea are still on the rise and farmers are still encouraged to invest in both as well as other agricultural ventures; 3. Ugandan milk is dominating milk sales within Uganda and being exported to countries including Nigeria, India, The USA, the Middle East and the other East Africa nations; 4. Doho irrigation scheme and Mobuku scheme were repaired at a cost of 19.7 and 19 billion shillings each. The Agoro scheme was completed at a cost of 27 billion shillings and Makerere University students are currently attempting to develop a solar powered irrigation machine.. 5. There is uranium in Uganda which the Government intends on exploiting for the energy sector. The President further stated that there are Ugandans abroad studying and they are expected to be the pioneers of nuclear science in Uganda. 6. The government will present various Bills before the Parliament in the 4th Session, including the Landlord and Tenant Bill, the Uganda Land Commission Bill, the Retirement Benefits Bill, the Finance Bill, the Indigenous and Complementary medicine Bill, the National Health Institute Bill, the Uganda heart Institute Bill among others.
