STATE OF WYOMING invites applications for the position of: ATAW99-02350-Nongame Bat Technician-Lander SALARY: $14.39 - $14.39 Hourly LOCATION: Lander OPENING DATE: 01/21/15 CLOSING DATE: Continuous DESCRIPTION AND FUNCTIONS: GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Work closely on a team and with Nongame Program personnel to survey for bats in Wyoming. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Will use a variety of sampling techniques (netting, caving, and acoustic detectors) to survey for bats. • Must be reliable, in good physical condition, have great communication skills, and be able to work independently and in remote locations. • Must pay close attention to detail. • Experience working in the field, conducting surveys, and collecting field data. QUALIFICATIONS: PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS: Preference may be given to those with a high school degree plus 2 years experience in fish and wildlife resource management, research, or habitat development or 2 years of college course work towards a baccalaureate degree in wildlife management, herpetology, ichthyology, or another closely related field. **Agency requires that the successful applicant has a valid driver’s license. KNOWLEDGE: • Ability to work well in close quarters with a field crew for extended periods of time. • Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work long hours and different times and days (including weekends and nights, as needed) on short notice. • Must have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and be able to work well with others. • Ability to work in inclement weather. • Must be able to spend long periods of time in a vehicle and in the field. • Experience using hand-held GPS for navigation and/or data collection. • Ability to operate a 4WD vehicle, on or off road. • Experience pulling campers, trailers, etc. preferable. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: None - See Preferences NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Will work and camp in the field for up to 8 days at a time. Will work a variable schedule (including long hours, weekends, and nights, as needed) that may change with little notice. Extensive travel across the state is required. NOTES: • FLSA: Non-exempt • Open Until Filled • Position will last from approximately May 2015 through September 2015. Necessary field equipment will be provided. Housing in Lander will not be provided. Employee may be asked to utilize hotels while performing field work.
