STATE WORKERS, YOU HAVE A STAKE IN THIS FIGHT We fully understand why a lot of state workers seem disengaged from our pension funding crisis. We acknowledge that when we were working, we had far more pressing issues to think about than retirement; when we were in our 30s and even 40s, it seemed like a distant goal. But if you know a state worker who hasn’t joined our cause, we hope you’ll reach to him or her to join KGR. We are confident that our retirement benefits are protected as a matter of contract law. But that doesn’t mean there might not be legal challenges to our benefits in the future, if the KERS non-haz continues to sink. Who knows what decision makers might try to do? Knowledge is power. All stakeholders need to be keenly aware of this developing situation and be prepared to act. That includes not only retirees, but also current workers. Pay attention to your pension.
