STATEMENT ANC NW CONGRATULATES PLATINUM STARS The African National Congress in North West congratulates Platinum Stars ‘Dikwena’ on their victory over Orlando Pirates in their MTN8 encounter, at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, on Saturday, 28 September 2013. Dikwena won 3-1 on penalties against Orlando Pirates and are crowned the MTN8 champions. The two teams were level at 1-1 after 120 minutes of football. The ANC joins the people of North West in celebrating this unsurpassed achievement of Platinum Stars. Their victory has placed the North West province at a national as well as at an international platform. Their resounding victory will encourage other sporting codes in the province to remain determined in pursuit of their objectives. The ANC leadership will formally meet with the management and players of Dikwena to official congratulate them of their victory. We will discuss with them amongst others, the possible programme to showcase their trophy by roving it in all the regions of the North West province as well as the mechanism to trigger a flurry of supporters for future home games. Dikwena finishing as runners-up in the Absa Premiership last season marked the beginning for a team that has reinvented its image and determination to be one of the best soccer teams in South Africa. It is unambiguous that Dikwena young lions are eager to learn, ambitious and have a bright future. As the ANC in North West, we always maintained that sport is one of the phenomenon that unites people. Dikwena’s victory led to the young and old in their diversity, joining in the celebrations. Indeed as the ANC in the North West ise proud of their achievement.
