STATEMENT FROM LULAC NATIONAL VP-MIDWEST DARRYL MORIN ON VETERANS AFFAIRS ALLEGATIONS: Milwaukee, WI – The Midwest Region of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), our nation’s largest and oldest Hispanic membership based organization, calls for the immediate investigation of all Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare delivery locations. Darryl Morin, LULAC National VP-Midwest issued the following statement: “There is no greater sacrifice made for the love of country than to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. While this debt of service can never be fully repaid, it is the obligation of our great nation, to provide the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and our veterans the highest quality healthcare, in a timely, professional, and compassionate manner. Recent allegations suggesting veterans have perished not on the battlefield, but while waiting for access to their doctors, if proven true, would be clearly unacceptable and possibly criminal. As of today, the Veterans Affairs Inspector General is reporting active investigations of 26 VA facilities nationwide. Due to the size, scope and seriousness of these allegations and to ensure the credibility of any findings, Midwest LULAC calls on the President and the U.S. Congress to jointly form a non-partisan commission to launch and oversee an investigation of all VA healthcare delivery locations. If proven true, immediate corrective action must be taken, and those responsible be held to account to the fullest extent of the law. Our prayers as always, are with our nation’s veterans, members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families.”
