STATEMENT FROM NOLAN CROUSE, MAYOR OF ST ALBERT Fatality near Marie Poburan School on September 27, 2013 It is with heavy heart that I received the tragic news of the death of a young boy who was struck by a school bus near Ecole Marie Poburan here in St. Albert this morning. On behalf of St Albert City Council, I pass my deepest condolences to the boy’s family and relatives, and to all affected by today’s tragedy including the staff and students of Ecole Marie Poburan. Today’s terrible loss affects our children, parents, schools and citizens in the deepest way. St. Albert RCMP confirmed the fatal accident at Sir Winston Churchill and Woodlands near the Ecole Marie Poburan Elementary School; and advise that while the family has been notified, out of respect, the boy’s name is not being released at this time. RCMP Traffic Analyst along with the St. Albert RCMP are at the scene and the investigation is ongoing, and we await the findings of their investigation. We owe our children and grand-children a safe, secure and danger-free environment to grow up in and days like today tear the hearts of our community. I encourage all to rally and join me in prayers and support for the family and all those involved and affected.
