STATEMENT ON BUDIRIRO VIOLENCE We strongly condemn the attack on MDC youths in Budiriro, Harare on Sunday by Zanu PF violent gangs - in a manner similar to the abductions and brutal assaults of OAUS members last month. It is of great concern that the police yet again proved their complicit role in the Zanu PF terror plans by arresting the attacked MDC youths but leaving the Zanu PF perpetrators, led by Godfrey Gomwe, to go scot-free. Similarly, on the 2nd of last month, Gomwe led gangs that abducted Allan Chinewaita, Jerrimos Mugweni and Itai Dzamara during an OAUS protest. After brutally assaulting them at Zanu PF headquarters, the Gomwe gang handed the trio to police and intelligence, where they were further tortured. These dastardly tactics by Zanu PF and state agents shall not deter Zimbabweans from exercising their civil and political rights. They shall not stop the push and demand for an end to the failure of the Zanu PF regime. We wish the hospitalised Joana Mamombe quick recovery and continue to call upon all stakeholders to unite for action. We are the people! We are the numbers! Lets go!
