STATION OF THE CROSS NUMBER 5 Its not your fault Perhaps Pilate would have given JESUS a way out had he been able to. It seemed he tried. Perhaps he would have let him go because he knew he was innocent. He did offer up a known murderer..., but the people rejected that trade. Pilate couldnt protect JESUS, so he symbolically washed his hands and cleansed himself of the guilt of condemning an innocent man, but delivered him over for execution. Perhaps Pilates washing saved us from the guilt of sending JESUS to his undeserved death. Perhaps. In this part of the story of the death of JESUS it is clear that you can definitely suffer for something you did not do and that people who want to maintain perceived control will go to any lengths to protect their interest. Obviously GODs plan was beyond the thoughts of man, His plan had an assignment and it played out perfectly. While we banter about what we perceive GOD is unfolding His will and we may never even know it until later. It was all predestined. It is the all things work together for good factor at work. You cant out-smart GOD. Although accused, JESUS was not a blasphemer.....HE WAS GOD. He was not just saying He was the King of the Jews......HE WAS THE KING OF THE JEWS. It takes me back to the time in Jewish history when the people demanded a king because all the other people around them had one. They didnt realize they too had one, it was the KING of kings. GOD himself was KING over Isreal, but Isreal wanted what the others had. The Jewish people denied the King of Isreal in the Old Testament, but in some unexplainable way they were choosing to Crown JESUS as King of the Jews on Calvary. Although it seemed as if He was being denied, in reality He was indeed being CHOSEN. I know had I been there, feeling like I feel about JESUS today, I would have been begging them to release Him and not kill him. I would have been thinking that He didnt deserve this and He should be released. However, I would be acting against the coming of Salvation, Redemption and Restoration. Pilate found no fault in JESUS because there was none, but there was something much deeper found.........LOVE. No FAULT, just LOVE. My prayer here at STATION 5: Lord, when I am faced with a situation or a circumstance and I search for FAULT, help my eyes see LOVE. It may be hidden, but you can reveal all things.
