STATION OF THE CROSS NUMBER 6 My healing brings my authority. Although Pilate and many others knew that JESUS did not deserve crucifixtion, he wanted to offer the ones who wanted him dead something to satisfy their desire to see him dead, so he offered a punishment that was used on those thought guilty and that were considered the lowest of citizens. Pilate sentenced JESUS to be scourged, a painful, brutal beating that was not only used to inflict pain, but was also meant to demean and belittle the victim. It makes me cringe when I think of how the instrument used to beat JESUS was designed to tear open flesh, to remove it, to expose the victims internal organs. What possibly could this say to us when we know that by those stripes, those lashes, those deep wounds, that torn flesh......WE ARE HEALED? In my mind it is clear that the brutality of the beating somehow promised HEALING for us. Imagine that! The same can be said of our spiritual tearing and removal of flesh. This too brings about the promise of HEALING for us. As if this was not enough, the soldiers crowned JESUS with a crown made of THORNS to mock JESUS. I have made the statement countless times that even in their mocking the soldiers were speaking the truth and proclaiming that the King of kings was being offered to save us. How ironic that someones mocking can really be a prophetic release without them even knowing it. This scene really proves to me that out of much pain comes AUTHORITY. The scourging, the healing, the CROWN. The Natural eyes saw the proof of hurt and pain on JESUS back, but today our Spiritual eyes see HEALING. The Natural eyes saw an imposter, but today our Spiritual eyes see THE KING. My prayer here at STATION 6: Lord, help me bear the pain that comes to remove my flesh, that it may expose the internal parts to you. Confirm the power of HEALING coming from the pain and the undeniable promise of the CROWN of AUTHORITY. I know that this is my way of partaking in your suffering, but also glory of being seated with you in heavenly places where I rule and reign with you. It may not look like it, but I am headed for the RESURRECTION. The story cant end without it. I embrace all of you Lord.
