STATUS UPDATE... THIS IS SO VERY COOL!!! As Rick was coming home from the grocery store, he saw something in the street. He, of course, slowed down to see what it was, as he would NEVER allow himself to thoughtlessly harm an animal. It turned out to be a Baby Owl. A Fledgling, most likely. It had either gotten off base going toward its nest being as young as it is, or else it has possibly flown too low and had been grazed by a car that had kept on going. :/ At any rate, he petted it to see if it would react, but it only turned to look at him. It did not show any evidence of being either sick or very scared, so he picked it up (talons and beaks are no threat to this man!), and it struggled a little bit, but he held onto it, and placed it well up into a tree. In only a short few minutes, the Baby Owl was alert and secure, and then spread its wigs and few away! These are the cell phone photos that he took before it flew home. I say HOORAAY FOR RICK!!!
