STAY-CATION IS A NEW THING AT HOPE MINISTRIES A wonderful family chose to spend their summer week vacation at home and schedule fun things to do around Des Moines for their very first “stay-cation”. They chose to spend one of their days volunteering at Hope Ministries by serving and learning about homelessness in their community. They participated in our MAKE A BED – KEEP THEM FED program. They helped serve the noon meal, then put new sheets, pillow and left an encouragement card on bed #58 for Justin – a new shelter guest at our Bethel Mission emergency shelter for homeless men. They also brought donations for our ministry including two very large bags of pancake mix and syrup, two huge bags of shredded cheese, a new sheet set and pillow. Then they toured our Hope Family Center and donated four teddy bears, a humongous container of laundry detergent and 100 diapers. We thoroughly enjoyed this family and are blessed to see parents teaching their children empathy and servant hearts. Thank you Lord for families like this!
