STEP TWO – Take a closer look at the Quran I would like to - TopicsExpress

STEP TWO – Take a closer look at the Quran I would like to take a more intimate journey through the Quran to learn about the Celestial mysteries and the true essence of one God (Tawheed). I would like to connect with the words of God - the Quran. It states that if the words of God were revealed on a mountain, the mighty mountain would have cleft asunder. Yet my shoulder is supposed to be strong enough to carry the weight of the revelation. What power would make the mountain crumble and what foolishness makes me think that I am capable of carrying the words of God? I must be capable of bearing the burden or God would not have revealed it to the human beings. I would like to know the real power of the Quran. I would like to understand why God created me. The mortal who often forgets, needs constant reminder, falls short of the desired standards and desperately needs God’s Grace and forgiveness. I would like to know what was the divine wisdom behind the creation of such a weak creature? Why do I exist and what purpose do I serve? I would like to find answers to these simple but essential questions in the Quran. I would like to know how I fit into the wider universe. I am but a small creature, even a small spider can threaten my life, invisible bacteria can cause havoc to my internal system, and a virus can cause me to degenerate into lifeless lump of rotting flesh. What purpose do I serve in this universe? I would like to understand God’s creation more. When I look around I am both awestruck and confused by the variety of creatures. Why have so many creatures compete for the finite resources on this earth? In that process some survive and some become extinct? What is the wisdom behind all this? Can human beings become extinct too? If we become extinct, what comes next? I would like to find answers to these questions in the Quran. I would like to understand and embrace the divine rules (Muhkamaat) willingly. I would like to find no hesitation in my heart in submitting to the will of God. I would like to find contentment in worshiping God. I would like to listen to the words of God and obey the commands without doubt or reluctance. I would like to find ways to totally surrender. I would like the Quran to pave the way for my total subservience. I would like to reflect on the allegorical (Mutashabihaat) phenomenon described in the Quran. I would like to know why does God use ambiguity in the Quran. Surely clarity would have reduced reasons for disagreements and strife amongst the believers. What lessons can I draw from these ambiguous verses? The more I read these verses the more I realize how little I know. I wonder if God intends me to know why place these verses in my path as these are the best way to keep me confused. I would like the Quran to tell me what is the purpose of these metaphorical verses? I would like my heart to tremble when the words of God is rehearsed. I would like my heart to melt when the words of God is recited. I would like my faith in God to increase when the signs of God are presented to me. I would like my every sense to be in sync with the words of God. I would like the words of God to be the true music to my ear and the soothing tune for my heart. I would like the words of God and my soul to be perfect harmony. I would like the Quran to show me the way to achieving this supreme state of faith and conscience. I would like to love the Quran more. The more I read the Quran the deeper in love I fall with it. The world around me makes perfect sense. I can see the natural equilibrium in all things around me. I can see my place in this universe. I am no longer lost and floating with time. I am firmly established as the true vicegerent of God on this earth. The words of God give me moral clarity, defined ethics, clear parameters for public and private interactions, economic and political framework for fairer society and most importantly a balanced life between material and spiritual yearnings. I would love to share the words of God with my fellow human beings all the time especially in this month of Ramadan. I would like the Quran to tell me how? I would like the Quran to lay down the rules of engagement for me when I am interacting with my fellow human beings. I am the responsible for sharing but God is responsible for guiding. I would like the Quran to place the parameters of respect and tolerance even for my foes. I would like to take a deeper journey through the pages of the Quran this Ramadan.
