STILL ON BUHARI In 1984 the year I gained admission into the University of Ife (as it then was) was the year Buhari truncated democracy in Nigeria and became the Head of State. One of the very first things he did was to cancel meal subsidy for Nigerian University students even though the country can afford it. Even Shagaris government with its expensive and overbloated bureaucracy sustained it. But Buhari had to cancel it because they had little regard for education and because it benefitted the South more than his Northern people. The South had a very huge advantage over the North in terms of number of wards they had in universities. The students from the North are paid a very handsome bursary by their various states so they didnt feel the impact as much as we did. That is your bigoted new and improved Mr. Integrity of 2014 for you. Buhari claimed to have borrowed a whooping N27 Million (with what collateral?) from a bank to obtain an expression of intent form as APC presidential candidate. I guess the name of the bank will be Charity Bank that gives loan to politically exposed people without collateral against CBN directives. I guess Mr. Integrity has started breaking laws already. Anyway, I wouldnt want to hand the management of the country to a man who borrows N27 Million to contest for a political post without means of repaying it if he loses. If he manages his own finances like that, then I am scratching my head.
