STOLEN FROM SOMEONE “It is Publicly Known that Elisha Odhiambo Defeated Jakoyo Midiwo in the Last ODM Nominations, in Gem, Ahead of the March 4, 2013 Elections; But He Was Rigged in by Raila and Myself!! Midiwo Should Not Bite the Hands that Fed Him!!” – Dr. Oburu Oginga Odinga. · Here and there: Serious food for thought: - · 1) Gem MP and first cousin of Mr. Kigeugeu has stirred fresh controversy in ODM-KPU’s wobbling fortunes by calling on Mr. Kigeugeu to shun key allies from his inner circle of advisers, including his elder brother nominated MP Dr. Oburu Oginga Odinga. · Days after Mr. Kigeugeu struck a truce between rival party leaders following aborted chaotic elections, Midiwo is now calling for stern action against three Nyanza legislators whom he says are misleading the party leader. · Midiwo singled out Homa Bay Senator Gerald Otieno Kajwang’, Oburu Oginga and Nyando MP Fred Outa as being behind wrong, reckless, irresponsible and dictatorial decisions that have pushed ODM to the brink of collapse. An angry Midiwo, who is the CORD Deputy Minority Whip, said the trio was using their close links with Mr. Kigeugeu to influence making of some decisions that threaten the very unity of ODM. · “The likes of Kajwang’, Outa and Oburu have been misleading Raila on a number of occasions and it’s time they are told plainly that they have no credibility to advise Raila,” said Midiwo, himself an ally and maternal cousin of Mr. Kigeugeu’s. · Midiwo who, with Siaya Senator James Orengo, did not attend last Friday’s National Delegates Conference (NDC) at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, has been complaining that a section of ODM MPs were misadvising Mr. Kigeugeu politically. · But is quick rejoinder, Outa told off Midiwo claiming, “He has found new love in Jubilee Government and is being funded to finish Raila politically.” · Outa accused the Gem MP of taking family differences between him and Oburu too far by publicly attacking the legislator. · “If he has gone to Jubilee, let him go and dine with them, but Jakoyo must know that even if he has family issues with Oburu he needs to address them at the family level and avoid bringing domestic issues on the national front. He should stop dragging my name into this. I am not part of that family,” said Outa (The People Wednesday, March 5, 2014). · The Nyando legislator stated that Midiwo should not purport to be “vetting” leaders who Mr. Kigeugeu should talk to, saying the former Prime Minister has enough experience to know friend and foe. · Outa claimed Midiwo’s outbursts were just a confirmation of his fear of strong leaders from Nyanza surrounding Mr. Kigeugeu. · “That is his problem; he fears stronger people from Nyanza walking with Raila would outshine him. He has great appetite for weak leaders whom he can manipulate,” claimed Outa. · On misadvising Mr. Kigeugeu, Outa denied the allegations noting that the party leader consults widely and cannot be held hostage by any one or three leaders. · “Midiwo cannot tell Raila who to talk to. No one, even himself, can advise Raila; our leader consults widely and you cannot define who Raila’s friends are,” Outa told Midiwo. · Kajwang’ also scoffed at Midiwo’s position, stating that those out to destroy ODM and Mr. Kigeugeu were well known and documented. · “The can run in circles, but they cannot hide. We know them and we shall not allow the party to be hijacked, even when they accuse us of misadvising the party leader,” said Kajwang’. · Midiwo also said the Kasarani chaotic elections were pre- planned days before the NDC meeting. · He said Kajwang’ had vowed to him that the exercise would be messy if nominated Senator Agnes Zani’s team did not carry the day. · “The disruption and chaos were sponsored by us (ODM leaders); Kajwang’ told me personally that no matter what, if his team would not win there was going to be chaos. Being one of the members who were against the elections, I stayed out and am not regretting it,” asserted Midiwo. · But, according to Outa, giving the polls a wide berth was more a confirmation that some MPs were “working with external forces to kill the party and are not in ODM with both legs”. · Notable ODM leaders who skipped the Kasarani event included Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero, Orengo, MPs Ken Obura (Kisumu Central), Agostino Neto (Ndhiwa), Millie Odhiambo (Mbita) and Jaduong’ Dalmas Otieno (Rongo). · “If Kajwang’ told him so, then, why did he keep quiet? If you find your house about to burn, do you keep quiet or save the house?” posed Outa. · Orengo, on his part, cautioned Mr. Kigeugeu to be cautious with some people surrounding him, warning that they could be detrimental to his political career. · “He should be asking himself questions, like why some of us who have been loyal and honest with him over the years, have suddenly changed our stand. They know the reasons why we did not attend the Kasarani meeting,” said Orengo. · 2) First cousins Washington Jakoyo Midiwo and Dr. Oburu Oginga Odinga have been embroiled in a fierce political tussle for some time now. · Midiwo has insisted, on a number of occasions, that Mr. Kigeugeu must drop Oburu for the good of the party. · Oburu has shot back stating that Midiwo does not have ODM’s interest at heart. · During a funeral in Bondo, recently, Oburu accused Midiwo of fighting him (read Oburu) even after they helped him acquire ODM ticket ahead of the March 4, 2013 General Election. · “It’s publicly known that Elisha Odhiambo defeated Midiwo in the last ODM nominations, in Gem, but he was rigged in by Raila and myself,” Oburu declared (Star, March 4, 2014). · He warned Midiwo against “biting” the fingers and/or hands that fed him. · [NB: Good people, Heavens above, who would ever have imagined things would get to this; to a point where Dr. Oburu discloses to Kenyans, Kenya and the whole wide world that, yes indeed, ODM, as you have always suspected, is a party of shameless criminal riggers; and not (a party) of social democrats or reformers they (have always) purported to be? Doubtless, that is why we sometimes we refer to CORD as the Coalition for Rigging and Doctoring! Maybe in the fullness of time, Oburu could tell us ODM rigged the 2007 elections, in Nyanza, Rift Valley, Western, Nairobi, Coast and North Eastern, and then started the 2007/2008 post-election violence!] · 3) The Standard’s ‘Palaver’ segment carried the following item, among others (Standard, March 6, 2014): “Orange House is burning. Finally, the powerful egos, that were for so long subdued to the position of court jesters, cannot be contained and are now telling the king that he is naked. · The lid on Pandora’s box is bursting and it is taking all of Raila Odinga’s political trickery to keep the bolt fastened and the top shut. ODM is paying the price of a lack of internal democracy. · This after an attempt by the former Prime Minister to convince the Joho-Namwamba group to strike a deal, and avoid the infamous polls, failed a day to balloting. · Now the egos have created Lernaean Hydra, the reptilian creature of Greek mythology with eight heads and one body. The number of big names in ODM opposed to Raila’s lineup is just about this number. This slithery monster won’t be easy to slay because the heads must be chopped off one by one!” Nothing to add: Enough said! Everything is in black and white.
