STOP LYING! by Deirdre [ October 29, 2013 1:10 PM EST] When you truly accept Jesus Christ, you put away your old ways and habits. One of the major sins that people find hard to put away is their lies. But to be Christian is to STOP LYING! Therefore if you were living a lie before following Christ, you must start being truthful about that which you previously lied about. Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. - Colossians 3:9-10 ESV Personally, I used to have a habit of exaggerating when I spoke, it was like second nature to me ... things I thought were harmless, but the Holy Spirit pointed out that I shall not do. For example I might say I sued everybody and their great grandmother. But that is not the truth. I might have sued a lot of people, but no ones great grandmother. So the Holy Spirit is teaching me how to properly speak. For example, it is acceptable to use an analogy, but you must be clear that it is an analogy. For example using the example above I could say I sued so many people, I felt like I sued everybody and their grandmother. So it is important to start telling the truth after being saved.
